Planning for an Emergency Posted May 18, 2011 in Our articles

The phone rings in the middle of the night and your heart is pounding. There are EMTs at your parents’ house. They need to know what medical conditions Dad has, what medications he is taking, who is the primary care physician, if there are any allergies, any advance directives…

You don’t know all the answers. Perhaps you had intended to ask, or were thinking about having your parents post this information on the refrigerator…

Make a plan now. Many County Sheriff’s Departments have a refrigerator card that Emergency Service workers will look for; call your local township ask for an emergency packet.

The American Red Cross offers an emergency form as well. Print it out and put on your refrigerator or in your wallet. Be prepared.
